Within the framework of the "Human Rights Education for Legal Professionals (HELP) in Central Asia" program, aimed at ensuring the rule of law in Central Asia by the Council of Europe in 2020-2023, the seminar marked the beginning of the training courses on "Combating Human Trafficking" and "Protecting Women and Girls from Violence and Abuse" for the employees of the Prosecutor's Office at the Academy of Law Enforcement.
The seminar was attended by Christina Kokhlova, the coordinator of the HELP program in Central Asia from the Council of Europe, Rudolf Kristofferson, a Norwegian prosecutor and certified expert of the HELP program, international expert Lucy Harda, and Vasily Lukashevich, a legal expert on the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights.
Over the course of two days, more than 60 employees of the Prosecutor's Office, as well as students of the master's level at the Academy, participated in the "Combating Human Trafficking" and "Protecting Women and Girls from Violence and Abuse" training courses. During the seminar, the methodology of the HELP program was presented, and international experts provided presentations on the content of the HELP training courses on "Combating Human Trafficking" and "Protecting Women and Girls from Violence and Abuse," including international standards, the practice of the European Court of Human Rights on human trafficking, challenges and best practices in combating crimes of this nature, the national version of the courses, and practical aspects of the courses.
