A training course on "Combating torture: international practice and national experience" was held in Andijan and Namangan regions. The training was organized on the initiative of the National Center of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Human Rights in cooperation with the General Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Before the session, the first deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the director of the National Center for Human Rights of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Academician A. Saidov sent an online video message and spoke about the priority goals and objectives of the training course.
Lectures and practical exercises on several current topics are provided within the framework of the educational course program. In particular, "International standards and basic principles in the field of human rights", "Foreign experience of combating torture against migrants and stateless persons", "The essence of the Nelson Mandela Rules", "Torture and treatment and punishment that are harsh, cruel, inhumane or degrading" The content of the Convention Against Discrimination", "Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture", National Preventive Mechanisms for the Prevention of Torture: International Experience and National Practice", "International Standards for Arrest, Detention, Guarantees of Prisoners' Rights" took place.
The management and professors of the Academy of Law Enforcement, Institute of State and Law, Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and Professional Development Institute participated in the training course with their lectures.
20 employees from regional prosecutor's offices and 100 employees from internal affairs bodies participated in the training.
At the end of the course, the students were awarded certificates.
