On December 2, 2023, in Samarkand, the international conference on the anniversary of the establishment of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan continued its work on the theme: "Legal Education and Science in Law Enforcement: Modern Trends and Perspectives".
The conference's objective was to create a platform for discussing innovative approaches in the educational process, exchanging experiences in the training of personnel in law enforcement, considering modern challenges, and developing recommendations for implementing international standards in combating corruption, money laundering, and terrorism financing, as well as ensuring the protection of human rights in investigative activities.
The event was attended by over 40 foreign experts in the field of science and education, as well as leaders and specialists from institutions in 20 countries and 10 international organizations.
During the second day of the conference, a thematic session took place: "Issues of Prevention and Combating Offenses: Exchange of Best Practices and Prospects for Cooperation."
Within the session, the First Deputy Chief of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, E.V. Kolenko, informed participants about the Academy's activities in analyzing and researching law enforcement issues, international and interdepartmental cooperation in this direction, interdisciplinary approaches to studying problems, and developing recommendations on relevant issues in the field.
Professor of the Department of Sociology of Law at Lund University (Sweden) P. Olsson, in his presentation, acquainted participants with issues of crime prevention and socio-legal control at the level of local communities based on the analysis of national models.
Current issues of ensuring road traffic safety were addressed during the presentation by international expert on preventing offenses in road safety, F. Takayoshi (Japan).
During discussions, participants discussed the agenda of the session, identified priority issues for further consideration by the expert community.
As a result of the conference, practical recommendations were adopted to enhance the scientific and educational potential in the field of law enforcement, ensure human rights in the activities of responsible authorities, implement anti-corruption standards, counteract terrorism financing, asset recovery, and develop interdepartmental and international cooperation.
