A conference model of the UN Convention against Corruption was established

On the occasion of International Anti-Corruption Day, the Academy, in cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Drug and Crime Administration, and the "Regional Communication" NGO, traditionally organized a model conference of the UN Convention against Corruption: "Mechanism of Implementation of the Convention: Overview of the Second Stage" was established.

At the event, students of Karakalpak State University named after Berdak, Westminster International University in Tashkent, University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Samarkand State University, Tashkent State Law University, Higher School of Judges under the Supreme Council of Judges, Tashkent State Law University and Academy of Law Enforcement participated in role-playing games. As delegates of the participating states of the convention, they tested their knowledge in two-stage events.

During the first stage, the participants as conditional delegates of Malaysia, Japan, Spain, Latvia, Great Britain, Canada, and Uzbekistan spoke about the active participation of civil society in the fight against corruption based on Article 13 of the Convention.

In particular, in their speeches, the delegates focused on issues such as the involvement of the population in the decision-making processes, the provision of information openness for the population in the state, the implementation of activities aimed at creating an environment intolerant of corruption among the population, as well as the implementation of anti-corruption educational programs, including educational programs in schools and universities. and participated in the debates by answering the questions of other delegations.

In the second part of the event, the participants made a presentation on proposals aimed at increasing the activity of civil society in the fight against corruption in Uzbekistan and increasing openness and transparency based on the new knowledge gained.

The presentations of the delegations were evaluated by experts recruited from the Anti-Corruption Agency, the UN Security Council, and the "Regional Dialogue" NGO.

The organized event provided an opportunity for the audience of educational institutions to increase their knowledge of the provisions of the UN Convention against Corruption, conduct review mechanisms under the Convention, and familiarize themselves with the experiences of civil society in fighting corruption in foreign countries and Uzbekistan.
