Introduction to the Sustainable Development Goals for New Students of the Academy

As part of the introductory week for the 2024/2025 academic year, the Law Enforcement Academy hosted an event to introduce new students to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The purpose of this event was to familiarize students with these crucial global goals and to lay the groundwork for their involvement in achieving them.

For reference, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development were adopted by the UN General Assembly in 2015. These 17 global goals aim to eradicate poverty, combat climate change, and build peaceful, just, and effective institutions. They are essential for the future of humanity and impact the daily lives of individuals worldwide. The Academy is a working body within the national SDG expert group focused on "Effective Governance".

During the event, detailed information was provided on the primary areas of the SDGs, including both global and national objectives related to economic growth, social inclusion, environmental protection, and effective governance. The Academy’s work, projects, and initiatives related to the SDGs were reviewed. Specific examples illustrated how students can contribute to the SDGs and support the Academy’s initiatives. In particular, the importance of responsible consumption, energy and water conservation, waste sorting, and the use of green transportation in achieving SDGs was emphasized.

The event also covered the Academy's international cooperation efforts and student involvement in international competitions, projects, and programs. Overall, the event successfully introduced students to the significance of sustainable development and clarified their role in advancing the global goals.
