An international scientific-practical conference on "Cyber Law: Problems and Development Prospects" was organized at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The conference was organized to implement the tasks outlined in the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No.DP-257, dated November 28, 2022, “On Introducing a New Qualitatively Different System for Training Skilled Personnel in the Field of Criminal Investigation,” and the Resolution No. DP-229, dated June 21, 2024, “On Measures to Organize Scientific Research Activities in the Field of Digital Forensics.”
Nowadays, digital technologies have penetrated almost every sphere of our lives, fundamentally transforming not only the forms of communication between people but also sectors such as the economy, education, healthcare, and public administration. These technologies are facilitating social interaction and improving living conditions.
At the same time, the digital world has raised critical issues such as cybersecurity, information confidentiality, personal data protection, cybercrime, and freedom of speech. These challenges underscore the need to accelerate the development of the field of cyber law.
It is well known that cyber law is a new legal direction of the modern era, related to legal regulation in the digital space. The conference was aimed at discussing significant practical and theoretical issues in the field of cyber law and finding solutions to them.
The conference was attended by professors, independent researchers, doctoral candidates, master's, and undergraduate students from the Academy, as well as representatives from the National Forensic Science University of India, the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the University of Public Safety, the State Security Service Academy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs Academy, Tashkent State University of Law, Tashkent University of Information Technologies, INHA University, Turin Polytechnic University, the Cybersecurity Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Institute of Legislation and Legal Policy under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Institute of State and Legal History of the Academy of Sciences, and the Scientific Research Institute for the Development of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence.
During the event, participants exchanged views on thoroughly studying existing issues in the field of cyber law, proposing effective solutions, and outlining future development prospects.
In particular, it was emphasized that the rapid development of the cyber law field is necessitated by urgent issues such as cybersecurity, information confidentiality, the protection of personal data, ensuring freedom of speech, and combating cybercrime in the digital world.
Another important aspect of the agenda was the issue of protecting rights in the digital space, which is related to the global challenges currently being raised.
Each country has its own unique approach to legal systems and ensuring information security. Therefore, it is crucial to develop cyber law at the international level today, strengthen cooperation between states, develop common norms, and implement them.
The conference participants also shared thoughts on the importance of jointly strengthening digital infrastructure and the legal environment, regulating innovations, and addressing emerging threats based on new technologies. In the context of increasing cybercrime, they discussed the importance of developing effective legal mechanisms for information exchange and combating crimes.
At the end of the event, the conference participants received answers to their questions from specialists.
