Meeting with a Professor from the University of Derby

A meeting was held at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan with an expert in criminal investigation, Professor Ray Bull from the University of Derby (UK).

The guest was acquainted with the activities of the Academy, including the process of integrating psychological approaches into the training of law enforcement personnel and investigators, as well as the implementation of innovative methodologies in personnel training.

During the meeting, Professor Ray Bull elaborated on the principles of effective investigative interviewing for gathering information (Méndez Principles). These principles, which are based on science, law, and ethics, enhance the effectiveness of investigations, ensure full respect for human rights, and strengthen trust in law enforcement agencies.

The meeting also discussed the prospects for collaboration in conducting joint research and projects. The parties exchanged views on key issues related to improving the effectiveness and ethics of investigative actions and interviews.
