As part of the International Anti-Corruption Day, a seminar-training titled "Engaging Youth in Public Oversight, Transparency, and Combating Corruption" was held at the Law Enforcement Academy.
The event was organized by the Law Enforcement Academy in cooperation with the Anti-Corruption Agency, with support from the German International Cooperation Society (GIZ) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
Students from the International Westminster University in Tashkent, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent State University of Law, Amity University, Webster University, Inha University, Alfraganus University, the National University of Uzbekistan, and the Law Enforcement Academy participated in the event.
The training was conducted by Azat Irmanov, National Coordinator of the UNODC program, and Inese Tauriņa, Director of Transparency International Latvia.
The program included expert presentations, group work, and experience-sharing on public oversight initiatives and anti-corruption measures.
Students explored the provisions of the UN Convention Against Corruption, the GRACE anti-corruption platform, models of civic monitoring, and the use of open data and information to detect violations and improve governance.
Additionally, the event featured an award ceremony for the winners of the "Youth Anti-Corruption Initiatives" competition held among students of the Law Enforcement Academy. The student projects aimed to promote creative approaches in combating corruption, encourage the search for innovative solutions, and strengthen project management skills.
The event provided an opportunity for youth to enhance their knowledge and skills in public oversight, working with open sources and platforms, and contributing to anti-corruption efforts.
