Round Table on the Topic: “Enlightenment against ignorance”


To enhance the ideological resilience, socio-political awareness, and spiritual worldview of students studying at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a spiritual and educational event was organized on the topic: “Enlightenment against ignorance”.

Opening the event, Deputy Head of the Academy M. Mamasiddikov shared his views on the importance of ongoing reforms in the religious and educational sphere in the context of globalization. He emphasized the need to combat threats such as religious fanaticism, extremism, and terrorism through education and wished success to the participants.

This event was organized in collaboration with experts from the Committee for Religious Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and professors from the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.
At the event, J. Melikuziev, Chief Specialist of the Department for Information-Analytical and Propaganda Work of the Committee for Religious Affairs, delivered a presentation titled “The essence and practical significance of the principle 'Secularism is not atheism'”. He provided detailed information on the history of secular statehood and the role of the rule of law in ensuring a balance between secularism and religion.

Additionally, Associate Professor G. Khudaybergenova from the Department of “Religious Studies and Comparative Study of World Religions (UNESCO)” at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan spoke on “The formation of rehabilitation and socialization institutions in Uzbekistan”. She provided an in-depth analysis of the content, types, and practical significance of social, legal, medical, and psychological rehabilitation processes taking place in Uzbekistan.

Furthermore, Senior Lecturer L. Alidzhanova from the same department delivered a report on “The legal foundations of state-religion relations”, discussing various models of state-religion relations worldwide, the regulation of religious organizations, and issues related to ensuring freedom of conscience in Uzbekistan.

The event facilitated a detailed discussion on key topics, including the concept of a secular state, the importance of interethnic harmony and religious tolerance, ideological threats emerging in globalization, and the negative impact of religious fanaticism, extremism, and terrorism on society. It also highlighted the significance of modern knowledge in shaping young people with a sound worldview.

Students were also shown a video titled “The value of peace”, which was dedicated to the theme of the event.

At the end of the event, students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive comprehensive answers. Speakers were presented with letters of appreciation from the Academy's administration, and an agreement was reached to strengthen cooperation in the future.

This event not only contributed to strengthening students’ ideological resilience, socio-political awareness, and spiritual worldview but also fostered a deeper sense of patriotism and respect for both universal and national values.
