On February 20, 2025, the Authorized Person for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Doctor of Law F.F. Eshmatova, held a meeting with undergraduate students, master’s students, and doctoral candidates of the Academy. As part of the “Ombudsman and Youth” series, modern trends in the field of human rights were discussed.
In recent years, significant changes have been taking place in Uzbekistan in the field of human rights protection, strengthening democracy, and developing civil society. The participation and activity of young people in this process are of particular importance. This event was organized specifically to highlight the ongoing reforms in the field of human rights and to discuss the role and opportunities of youth in this area.
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on changes in the field of human rights, the importance of legal education, and the role of democracy in the country's development. In her speech, Feruza Eshmatova emphasized that within the framework of the "New Uzbekistan" Development Strategy, special attention is given to issues of human rights, freedoms, and democracy. She spoke about the legal reforms being implemented in the country, the adaptation of national legislation to international standards, and the introduction of best practices in the field of human rights.
More than 100 students, master's students, and researchers were invited to the meeting, where they had the opportunity to express their views and suggestions on legal issues. This event was recognized as an important initiative aimed at improving youth’s legal literacy, encouraging their active participation in the life of the state and society, and strengthening their knowledge in the field of international law.
At the end of the event, the Ombudsman of Uzbekistan became acquainted with the activities of the Academy. The modern educational processes, scientific research work, and conditions created for students were highly praised. It was noted that this institution plays an important role in training qualified specialists in the field of human rights.
This meeting was a significant step in increasing youth’s legal awareness and stimulating their active participation in public and state affairs. The participants once again realized the importance of protecting and developing human rights. In a democratic society, every citizen, especially young people, must know their rights and be able to use them correctly. This is one of the key factors in the country's development and the enhancement of legal culture in society.
