A working meeting was held at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan with experts from the Stolen Asset Recovery (StAR) Initiative of the World Bank and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) as part of their visit to Uzbekistan.
The meeting was attended by StAR experts V. Kasko, L. Pop, and G. Kroni, as well as the UNODC Regional Representative for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan, O. Stolpe, and Project Coordinator A. Irmanov.
The parties discussed issues related to the return of criminal assets, including the activities of the Asset Recovery Interagency Network for Western and Central Asia (ARIN-WCA) and the Law Enforcement Academy as its permanent Secretariat. Prospects for the further development of these initiatives were also considered.
During the exchange of views, detailed information was provided on the activities of the Network and the Secretariat, proposals for improving and strengthening their work were discussed, and plans for continued cooperation in this field were outlined.
