With the support of the OSCE project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, a seminar-training was organized at the Law Enforcement Academy on the topic: “Integrating a gender approach into anti-corruption efforts in the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The purpose of the event was to enhance the competencies of specialists in applying a gender-sensitive approach in the development and implementation of anti-corruption measures, taking into account gender-specific factors when analyzing corruption risks, as well as to enrich the Virtual Academy platform with new educational materials.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Legislative chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the Anti-corruption agency, the General prosecutor’s office, the Ministries of justice, Internal Affairs, Employment and labor relations, the State committee on family and women’s affairs, as well as participants from academic and educational institutions.
The event was conducted by experts from the OSCE Secretariat, who presented international and advanced practices related to gender aspects in anti-corruption activities. In particular, such pressing issues as discrimination in employment, restrictions on rights in education and healthcare, and difficulties in accessing social assistance were discussed.
At the end of the event, participants were awarded certificates.
Based on the outcomes of the seminar-training, a distance learning course titled “Gender and corruption” is planned to be developed on the Virtual Academy’s e-learning platform. The course will be designed for employees of state bodies and other interested stakeholders.
