The Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in cooperation with the Chamber of Advocates, organized a seminar-training for defense attorneys and investigators on the topic "Issues of applying criminal and criminal procedure legislation."
During the seminar, participants comprehensively discussed current issues related to the proper classification of criminal offenses, the handling of evidence, and ensuring the guarantees of the right to defense throughout the inquiry and pre-trial investigation stages.
The training program was designed to strengthen participants' theoretical knowledge and practical skills in distinguishing criminal offenses from administrative offenses, including the legal assessment of cases involving administrative prejudice, the proper classification of crimes, determining the admissibility of evidence, and effectively safeguarding the right to defense during inquiry and pre-trial investigation proceedings.
The sessions were conducted by the Academy's professors, lecturers, and experienced legal practitioners through the analysis of real procedural situations and practical case studies. Participants enhanced their knowledge of the application of criminal and criminal procedure legislation, the collection, verification, and evaluation of evidence, the effective use of information and communication technologies, and the protection of fundamental human rights and freedoms throughout criminal proceedings.
The discussions and interactive exchanges held during the seminar contributed to strengthening professional dialogue between defense attorneys and investigators, while promoting well-reasoned approaches to addressing complex procedural issues encountered in law enforcement practice.
In addition, participants visited the Academy's Digital Forensics Research Institute, where they became acquainted with its activities. They also explored the Academy's investigative training facilities, forensic laboratories, and other specialized simulation classrooms, exchanging views on modern approaches to criminalistics and forensic investigation.
