Continuation of the international scientific and practical conference held in Samarkand: Topical issues of cybercrime investigation discussed

On June 20, 2025, as part of the second day of the international scientific and practical conference titled “Modern Challenges and Threats in Law Enforcement in the Era of Digital Transformation”, organized by the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, an international roundtable discussion on “Topical Issues and Best Practices in Cybercrime Investigation” was held in the city of Samarkand.

The event was attended by representatives of the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as international experts and representatives of organizations such as the OSCE, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Investigative Committees of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus, the Civil Guard of the Kingdom of Spain, the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Korea, the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Tajikistan, the State Committee of Forensic Examinations of the Republic of Belarus, the company BOOKing.com, and others.

The roundtable agenda covered a wide range of practical issues, including:

  • Advanced international practices in cybercrime investigation (using the example of the Republic of Belarus);
  • Specifics of investigating illegal crypto-asset trafficking in the United States;
  • Mechanisms of social engineering in cyber fraud;
  • Raising legal awareness and digital literacy among citizens;
  • Methodology for collecting digital evidence;
  • Training of personnel in the field of countering cyber threats;
  • The role of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan in monitoring and preventing cyber threats.

The open international dialogue during the two-day conference contributed to the exchange of views, advanced approaches, and the development of practical recommendations aimed at enhancing cooperation and improving the effectiveness of cybercrime investigations.

It is worth noting that Uzbekistan’s experience—particularly the work of the Scientific Research Institute of Digital Forensics under the Academy—sparked significant interest and was recognized by international partners.

The Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its status as an international expert platform, promoting the integration of innovative solutions into the law enforcement sector, the formation of a professional community, and the consolidation of efforts to ensure the rule of law and digital security.

A collection of materials from the international conference will be published following the event.
