A representative of the Law Enforcement Academy took part in a summer school on combating corruption, held in the Republic of Latvia as part of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The delegation consisted of staff from the Anti-Corruption Agency of Uzbekistan, as well as heads of compliance structures from various ministries and departments.
The summer school was organized within the framework of the project “Improving Public Administration in Uzbekistan – Preventing Inclusive Corruption”, implemented with financial support from the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
Members of the delegation visited the cities of Riga, Liepaja, and Jurmala in the Republic of Latvia, where they attended meetings at the Corruption Prevention and Combating Bureau (KNAB), the State Audit Office, the state joint-stock company “State Real Estate,” the State Border Guard, the Liepaja Special Economic Zone, the Kurzeme Customs Control Point, the local governments of South Kurzeme Region and the city of Jurmala, as well as the international organization Transparency International Latvia (DELNA).
During these visits, experts from Latvian government institutions, law enforcement agencies, and organizations conducted training sessions for the participants. These sessions covered various topics such as Latvia's anti-corruption and prevention systems, management of conflicts of interest, internal control and the income declaration system for civil servants, liability for violations of anti-corruption restrictions and prohibitions, the role of NGOs in preventing corruption, and professional development of public officials.
The summer school provided delegation members with a deeper understanding of advanced anti-corruption practices and will assist them in applying these mechanisms within their respective organizations in the future.
