Regional UNESCO Trainings Held for Prosecutor's Office Employees


In cooperation with the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan, the Law Enforcement Academy conducted a training session for employees of the prosecutor's offices in Andijan, Namangan, and Fergana regions on the topic: "Freedom of Expression, Access to Information, and Investigating Crimes Against Journalists".

The training was conducted by Canadian international expert Sabin Ouellet, who possesses extensive experience in protecting journalistic activity and ensuring freedom of expression and access to information.

Participants included regional prosecutor’s office staff, notably senior assistants to regional prosecutors on public relations and legal information, department prosecutors, assistants to district and city prosecutors, and investigators.

The expert provided explanations on the right to freedom of expression and its importance in building a democratic society, the legal limitations of freedom of expression, guarantees for access to information, the requirements of international standards, and advanced foreign practices.

Additionally, the training thoroughly covered the methods and mechanisms for conducting preliminary investigations into crimes committed against journalists.

Participants were awarded certificates.
