UNESCO Regional Trainings Held for Prosecutor's Office Employees at the Academy


At the Law Enforcement Academy, in cooperation with the UNESCO Office in Uzbekistan, a training session was held for employees of the prosecutor’s offices of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, Jizzakh, Syrdarya, and Tashkent regions on the topic: “Freedom of Expression and Access to Information, and Investigation of Crimes Against Journalists.”

The training was conducted by international expert Sabine Ouellet (Canada), who has extensive experience in the field of protecting journalistic activity and ensuring freedom of expression and access to information.

The training was attended by regional prosecutor’s office employees, including senior assistants to regional prosecutors for public relations and legal information, department prosecutors, assistants to district and city prosecutors, and investigators.

During the event, the expert provided detailed explanations on the right to freedom of expression and its significance in building a democratic society, the legal limitations of freedom of expression, guarantees for access to information, requirements of international standards, and leading foreign practices.

Additionally, methods and mechanisms for conducting preliminary investigations into crimes committed against journalists were thoroughly covered.

Participants were awarded certificates.
