Shared responsibility for a healthy future: issues of combating drug addiction were discussed at the Academy

In connection with June 26 – International Anti-Drug Day, a republican conference titled "Youth Initiative in the Fight Against Drug Addiction: A Healthy Society as a Guarantee of a Sustainable Future" was held at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was dedicated to the prevention of drug addiction, increasing legal culture and civic responsibility among young people, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and strengthening cooperation between government agencies, educational institutions, and the public in this direction.

The conference was attended by the leadership of the Drug Control and Firearms Agency under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Youth Parliament under the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the Law Enforcement Academy, professors and teachers, active youth, and representatives of legal educational institutions.

During the dialogue, it was noted that the spread of synthetic drugs and their illegal circulation through the Internet and other digital platforms pose a serious threat to young people. In this regard, issues of prevention, early warning, legal promotion, and support for youth initiatives were discussed in detail.

The event also emphasized the importance of the Law adopted on June 11, 2026, aimed at improving liability for the illegal trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, and potent substances. This document serves to further improve the legal mechanisms in this field.

An important result of the conference was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the Drug Control and Firearms Agency under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Youth Affairs Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Youth Parliament under the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, and the Law Enforcement Academy.

The memorandum will serve as an important basis for implementing joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the prevention of illicit trafficking in narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, their analogues, and potent substances among youth, promoting a healthy lifestyle, and increasing legal culture and civic responsibility.

Before the conference, the participants got acquainted with the exhibition of anti-drug projects organized at the Academy and creative presentations of young people.

The event continued with sessions titled "Towards a Healthy Society: Awareness and Prevention" and "Youth Initiatives and Practical Solutions in the Fight Against Drug Addiction." They discussed issues of cooperation between the fields of medicine, law, psychology, and education, as well as increasing anti-drug culture among youth through early prevention, digital projects, sports, and spiritual education.

The results of the conference reaffirmed the need to understand the fight against drug addiction not only as a task of law enforcement agencies but also as a shared responsibility of the state, family, educational institution, mahalla, and youth.
