Admissibility of evidence and enforcement of court decisions: prosecutors strengthen their practical skills

A professional development course organised at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for employees of the specialised prosecutors’ corps has concluded. The course focused on the application of criminal procedure law provisions concerning the admissibility of evidence in the judicial examination of criminal cases and on the organisation of the enforcement of court decisions.

The course was held as part of the implementation of tasks set by the Prosecutor General to ensure a close link between the educational process and the professional activities of prosecution bodies. Participants included assistant district (city) prosecutors and prosecutors of equivalent rank, as well as staff members of regional prosecutor’s offices.

The sessions were conducted by practising prosecutors from the relevant structural divisions of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Academy’s professors and lecturers. The classes covered ensuring the admissibility of evidence, exercising the prosecutor’s procedural powers when examining evidence in court, substantiating motions and presenting one’s position based on evidence during court pleadings. Attention was also given to organising prosecutorial oversight of the enforcement of court decisions, identifying the causes of delays in enforcement and taking measures to remedy violations of the law.

During simulated court proceedings, participants strengthened their practical skills in presenting and examining evidence, substantiating their procedural positions and delivering speeches during court pleadings.

At the end of the course, a commission assessed the participants’ level of proficiency, their knowledge and skills, as well as the laboratory assignments they had prepared.
