A delegation from the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan participated in the international certification program on the topic "Management of irregular migration and combating human trafficking," organized at the gendarmerie and Coast guard academy of the Republic of Turkey in Ankara.
The main objective of the program was to strengthen international cooperation among officers of state agencies in combating illegal migration, human trafficking, and terrorism financing, as well as to develop effective solutions through the study of Turkey’s advanced legal, institutional, and information technology practices in this field.
The opening ceremony of the program was attended by the head of the gendarmerie and coast guard Academy of Turkey, as well as representatives from Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Iraq, Italy, Kosovo, Mauritania, Morocco, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, and Sweden.
As part of the visit, the delegation from the Academy took part in lectures and practical sessions organized by the gendarmerie and coast guard Academy of Turkey and relevant law enforcement agencies. The program participants gained in-depth knowledge and skills on key topics such as distinguishing between human trafficking and migrant smuggling, national mechanisms for the identification and protection of victims, public attitudes toward migrants and media stereotypes, the sociology of migration, and the legal foundations of protection systems.
During the training program, a wide range of issues were thoroughly discussed, including the social and information-communication approaches to migration processes, establishing effective communication with migrants, protecting their rights, and the experience of leading government agencies in combating irregular migration and human trafficking.
At the end of the program, participants took a test-based examination to assess their knowledge and skills, upon which they were awarded certificates.
As part of the visit, members of the delegation toured the Turkish gendarmerie museum and studied the activities of the Directorate of criminal affairs.
Participation in this international certification program will contribute to enhancing the knowledge and skills of law enforcement officers of the Republic of Uzbekistan in combating irregular migration and human trafficking, as well as further strengthening international cooperation.
