The Regional Office of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), together with the Interdepartmental Network for the Return of Assets of the States of Western and Central Asia (ARIN-WCA), held a webinar on the topic "Ensuring High Efficiency in Return of Assets: The Experience of Hong Kong."
The webinar was attended by representatives of the Independent Commission on Combating Corruption (ICAC) of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region - Head of the Asset Recovery Department Sudhir Gidwani and Senior Investigator Gavin Lau. They delivered a presentation on the legal framework and practical experience of Hong Kong on asset recovery issues.
The event addressed issues such as asset confiscation processes, identifying nominal owners of property and assets hidden in offshore zones, preparing and sending requests for international legal assistance, and managing confiscated assets.
Representatives from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan participated, and during the webinar, participants received answers to their questions.
The Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as the Secretariat of the Network, takes important measures to coordinate regional cooperation, establish information and experience exchange processes, and ensure the effective functioning of the Network.
