Issues related to the prevention of domestic violence and the mitigation of its negative consequences were discussed


A scientific and practical conference on the topic
: “Prevention of domestic violence and elimination of its negative consequences” was held at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The event was attended by representatives of law enforcement agencies, higher educational institutions specializing in law, research institutes, the healthcare system, as well as faculty members of the Academy and postgraduate students.

The main purpose of the conference was to conduct an in-depth study of the legal, social, and psychological aspects of domestic violence cases, to discuss mechanisms for their prevention, and to develop effective response measures.

In addition, the participants examined the causes of crimes and suicidal actions committed by women who had become victims of violence, identified factors contributing to such situations, and formulated recommendations for their prevention and elimination.

Representatives of the General’s prosecutor office, the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Tashkent state university of law, the Institute for family and gender studies, as well as suicidologists from the Ministry of health, delivered reports at the conference.

During the discussions, participants thoroughly examined the criminological and victimological aspects of domestic violence, analyzed crimes committed by women as a result of abuse, addressed issues related to the prevention of fatal incidents among women, discussed problems in judicial and investigative practice concerning domestic violence cases, and reviewed both national and international experiences in suicide prevention.

Today, domestic violence remains one of the most pressing issues affecting not only individual families but also the stability of society as a whole. In this regard, holding such scientific and practical events is of great importance,  not only for analyzing existing problems but also for establishing effective interagency cooperation to address them.

The proposals and recommendations developed by the participants are intended to serve as a practical contribution to strengthening family well-being, protecting human rights, and ensuring social justice.
