A systemic approach to combating corruption: the role of compliance units in the spotlight

The Law Enforcement Academy is actively involved in the implementation of comprehensive anti-corruption measures being carried out in the country.

In the context of fulfilling the directives on combating corruption outlined in the Address of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Oliy Majlis and the people of Uzbekistan, a meeting was organized at the Law Enforcement Academy at the initiative of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, with the participation of heads of internal anti-corruption control (compliance) units of state bodies.

Responsible representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the leadership of the Anti-Corruption Agency, the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on Judicial and Legal Issues and Combating Corruption, as well as the Academy, explained the essence and content of the tasks set by the Head of State. Existing problems in eliminating corruption-related factors and ways to address them were also discussed.

The importance of enhancing the level of knowledge, developing professional skills and competencies of compliance unit staff was emphasized, and issues related to the extensive use of the electronic platform of the Virtual Anti-Corruption Academy were discussed. It was noted that, in this area, the Academy has formed a team of qualified professionals and established effective international cooperation.

With regard to the issues included on the agenda, proposals and opinions of the heads of internal anti-corruption control units of ministries and agencies were heard, and further measures for action were identified.
