UNESCO conducted regional trainings for employees of the prosecutor's office.


The UNESCO Representative Office in Uzbekistan, together with the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan, held short-term trainings for employees of the prosecutor's offices of the Khorezm region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan on the topic "Ensuring freedom of speech and expression, as well as the safety of journalists."

The training was attended by responsible employees of the investigative networks of the prosecutor's office, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, departments for supervision over the implementation of legislation in the social and economic spheres, assistants and investigators of district and city prosecutors.

An international expert, Assistant Commissioner of the Police of Malta Kate Arno, involved by the UNESCO representative office within the framework of the project, gave a detailed explanation to the participants of the event about the essence and significance of international norms and principles for the protection of freedom of speech and expression, as well as the role of employees of the prosecutor's office in protecting the rights and legitimate interests of media representatives during the investigation of criminal cases and judicial proceedings.

At the end of the training, international certificates were solemnly presented to the participants.
