A seminar-training on the protection of cultural heritage sites and collections was held

The Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with the U.S. Embassy in Uzbekistan, organized a seminar-training for employees of the prosecutor's office, customs authorities, and the Cultural Heritage Agency on the topic "Strengthening the Protection of Cultural Heritage Objects and Collections."

The three-day training was held with the participation of international experts from ARGUS Cultural Property Consultants and was dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage sites and collections, the search, identification, and return of lost and stolen cultural property, as well as the development of international cooperation in this direction.

As part of the training, participants gained practical skills in national and international standards, key aspects of US legislation, emergency response algorithms, crime scene inspections for cultural property crimes, museum security, and damage assessment.

Special attention was also paid to preventing the theft of cultural property, preparing for potential threats, responding promptly and effectively to threat scenarios, and improving existing policies and protocols.

This seminar-training served to further increase the knowledge and professional competencies of the participants in the field of protection of cultural heritage objects and collections, identification, search and return of lost or stolen cultural property.
