Professional retraining courses for newly appointed investigators are being conducted on an ongoing basis

The Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan continues to organize professional retraining courses for newly appointed investigators serving in the regional divisions of the Investigation Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The training is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to independently plan and conduct criminal investigations, competently handle evidence, and make lawful and well-reasoned procedural decisions.

The courses are conducted as part of the implementation of the tasks set forth in Presidential Decree No. PF-257 of 28 November 2022, "On introducing a qualitatively new system for training qualified personnel in the field of criminal investigation." To date, more than 130 participants have successfully completed the 288-hour professional retraining programme.

The curriculum covers key areas, including the proper application of criminal and criminal procedure legislation, the collection, examination and evaluation of evidence, investigation planning and the conduct of investigative actions, the use of digital technologies, the protection of human rights and freedoms, as well as professional ethics and official discipline.

In addition to the Academy's faculty members, training sessions are delivered by highly experienced practitioners from law enforcement agencies. The integration of theory with practical instruction enables participants to consolidate their knowledge through the analysis of real-life situations commonly encountered in investigative practice.

Upon completion of each course, participants' knowledge and practical competencies are assessed through a final certification examination. Those who successfully pass the assessment are awarded professional retraining diplomas issued by the Academy.

Training is currently continuing for the next groups of participants. The systematic professional retraining of newly appointed investigators contributes to strengthening the human resource capacity of investigative units and promotes the lawful, impartial and thorough conduct of criminal investigations.
