A delegation of the Law Enforcement Academy participated in the XI meeting of the Interstate Council on Combating Corruption of the CIS, held in Minsk.

The heads of the authorized state bodies of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan in the field of combating corruption participated in the Council meeting.

One of the important issues on the agenda of the meeting was the initiative of the Republic of Uzbekistan to grant the Law Enforcement Academy the status of a basic educational institution of the CIS participating states in the field of combating corruption.

As part of the discussion of this issue, First Deputy Head of the Academy Yevgeniy Vyacheslavovich Kolenko made a presentation, providing detailed information on the Academy’s activities in the field of combating corruption, including its work in the areas of education, research and expert-analytical activities, as well as its existing potential and prospects.

The members of the Council highly appreciated the Academy’s potential to become a leading institution for training and professional development of representatives of agencies, prosecutor’s offices, investigative and other law enforcement bodies of the CIS participating states operating in the field of combating corruption, as well as for conducting research and expert-analytical activities in this area.

Following the discussions, the initiative to grant the Law Enforcement Academy the status of a basic educational institution of the CIS participating states in the field of combating corruption was supported by the members of the Council.

The decision of the Council is expected to be considered and approved by the CIS Executive Committee and the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in the future.

In addition, as part of the event, the Academy organized meetings with a number of educational and research institutions of the Republic of Belarus with the aim of further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of combating corruption.

In particular, within the framework of the Council meeting, the Academy delegation held a bilateral meeting with Igor Anatolyevich Moroz, Doctor of Law, Director of the Research Center of the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Belarus.

During the meeting, the prospects for developing cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including combating corruption, scientific and methodological support for prosecutorial supervision activities, conducting joint research, as well as other areas, were discussed.

In addition, with the aim of further intensifying cooperation in the field of training highly qualified personnel for the law enforcement bodies of Uzbekistan and Belarus, as well as exchanging experience in innovative educational technologies, the Academy delegation visited the educational institution “Institute for Advanced Training and Retraining of the Investigative Committee” of the Republic of Belarus.

As part of the visit, a bilateral meeting was held with the Head of the Institute, Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Yury Frantsevich Kamenetskiy.

During the negotiations, the promising areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, including the organization of joint training sessions on combating crime in cyberspace, as well as the exchange of advanced experience and methodologies, were discussed in detail.

The Academy delegation also visited the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, where it held a bilateral meeting with Aleksey Vladimirovich Bashan, Acting Head of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

During the meeting, the parties discussed promising areas of mutual cooperation, and a memorandum aimed at developing and strengthening cooperation between the two academies in the fields of education and research was signed.

The memorandum provides for strengthening cooperation between the parties in the digitalization of the educational process and the introduction of distance learning technologies, exchanging experience in combating cybercrime, organizing mutual internships for academic staff, implementing joint educational and research projects, as well as cooperating in other areas of mutual interest.

The official visit to the Republic of Belarus was of significant importance from the perspective of further developing the international cooperation of the Law Enforcement Academy.

The visit will contribute to expanding the Academy’s educational, research and expert-analytical activities in the field of combating corruption at the level of CIS countries, studying and exchanging advanced foreign experience, expanding opportunities for training highly qualified personnel in the fields of combating corruption, prosecution and investigation, as well as mastering modern practices for detecting and exposing cybercrimes.

Granting the Academy the status of a basic educational institution in the field of combating corruption within the CIS will further strengthen its position on international educational and scientific platforms, creating new opportunities for enhancing human resource capacity in the field of combating corruption in the region and developing scientific and expert cooperation.

This status will also make a significant contribution to the effective implementation of the goals and objectives set within the framework of the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption, scheduled to be held in 2027.
