A meeting was held at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the United Nations Interregional Crime and Justice Research Institute (UNICRI). The meeting addressed the work carried out and future plans within the framework of the “CONTACT – Central Asia” project.

The guests were provided with information on the Academy’s main areas of activity, organisational structure, as well as the system for training, retraining and professional development of personnel of the prosecution and investigative bodies.

The discussion focused on enhancing the capacity of specialists in the field of preventing and combating the illicit trafficking of radiological and nuclear materials. The parties discussed opportunities for implementing joint projects and exchanging experience in this area.

At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of the Academy and UNICRI expressed their interest in further developing mutual cooperation and implementing joint initiatives.
