A dissertation defence on the use of artificial intelligence in civil proceedings held at the Academy

At a meeting of the Scientific Council DSc.24/2025.27.12.Yu.01.01 under the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, a dissertation submitted by the Academy’s independent researcher O‘rinboyeva Muhlisa Ma’rufovna was defended for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law in the speciality 12.00.04 – “Civil Procedural Law. Economic Procedural Law. Arbitration and Mediation”. The dissertation was entitled “Prospects for the use of artificial intelligence in civil proceedings: A comparative legal analysis”.

The study analysed legal issues related to the use of artificial intelligence in civil proceedings and the experience of foreign countries. Within the framework of the “Digital Court” concept, the author proposed providing for such capabilities as filing applications with the court and conducting certain procedural actions remotely, accessing case materials electronically, calculating court costs, and preparing court hearing minutes in real time.

The study also substantiated the need to strengthen the principles of legality, transparency, accountability, non-discrimination and data protection in the use of artificial intelligence. As part of the research, a draft code of ethics for the development and application of artificial intelligence-based solutions was also prepared.
