A representative of the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan is participating in an international professional development course entitled “Enhancing the capacity of public officials in drug control in Uzbekistan”, held in the Republic of Korea in cooperation with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Korean Institute of Criminology and Justice (KICJ). The programme, scheduled for 11–24 October 2026, brings together 15 specialists from Uzbekistan’s government agencies and research and practical institutions.
The course covers the Republic of Korea’s drug control policies and legal mechanisms, practices for detecting and investigating offences, modern control methods, and inter-agency cooperation. Particular attention is also being paid to a comprehensive approach integrating drug abuse prevention, addiction treatment and rehabilitation.
A comparative study of Korean experience and national practice provides a basis for applying modern approaches to combating illicit drug trafficking, detecting and investigating offences, and strengthening inter-agency cooperation in the training and professional development of law enforcement personnel.
