Comparative study of criminal court practice in Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan at the Academy

Binary training sessions involving specialists from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan were held at the Law Enforcement Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan for trainees studying the trial stage of Criminal Procedure Law. The sessions were organised in the courtroom simulation hall.

The invited participants included Meder Malikov, an employee of the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic; Asel Zagibayeva, an employee of the Law Academy under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Kyrgyz Republic; Rustem Nugmanov, an employee of the Academy of Law Enforcement Agencies under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan; and Fotima Ismailova, Deputy Chair of the Chilonzor District Criminal Court.

The sessions covered the specific aspects of criminal case proceedings in court, the procedural status and powers of prosecutors in court, the prosecution of criminal cases, and ensuring the rights of participants in criminal proceedings. The judicial practices of the three countries, the activities of courts and law enforcement agencies, and modern approaches to training personnel for these fields were also comparatively analysed.

The invited specialists shared their experience and provided explanations on the practical application of criminal procedure legislation, the analysis of legal situations arising during court proceedings, and the adoption of procedural decisions. The interactive format enabled trainees to reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical skills, conduct a comparative study of foreign experience, and ask the specialists questions directly.
