UNESCO regional training for prosecutors


The Law Enforcement Academy, in cooperation with the UNESCO Office in the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Switzerland in Uzbekistan, conducted training sessions for prosecutors from the Samarkand, Navoi, and Bukhara regions on the topic: “Ensuring Freedom of Speech and Expression, as well as the Safety of Journalists”.

The training was attended by assistant prosecutors responsible for public relations and legal information, investigators, prosecutors overseeing law enforcement agencies, as well as those working in the social and economic sectors.

As part of the UNESCO project, international expert Sabine Ouellet, former Chief Prosecutor of Quebec (Canada), explained the essence and significance of international principles and standards for protecting freedom of speech and expression. She also highlighted the role of prosecutors in safeguarding the rights and legal interests of media representatives during criminal investigations and court proceedings.

At the conclusion of the training, participants were awarded internationally recognized certificates.
