Bank compliance: identifying suspicious transactions and managing risks

The Law Enforcement Academy, in cooperation with the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Central Bank, held a seminar for employees of the internal control system of «APEX BANK» JSC on combating the legalization of criminal proceeds and the financing of terrorism.

The sessions covered national legislation and FATF standards, identification and assessment of financial risks, customer due diligence, compliance with sanctions restrictions, management of conflicts of interest, as well as the identification and analysis of suspicious transactions.

Based on practical cases, solutions were discussed for eliminating risks and systemic shortcomings in banking activities, applying a risk-based approach, and improving internal control mechanisms.

The open dialogue, held with the participation of professors and teachers of the Academy, specialists from the Central Bank and the Department, strengthened the practical skills of bank employees in monitoring financial risks, identifying suspicious transactions and improving the effectiveness of internal control.
